Whirlwind headlines Doom Over Colombo

Hela Distributions presents the country’s first metal gig for 2012, Doom Over Colombo, bringing together a toxic line up of underground extreme metal giants. The organisers claim “it’s nothing less, nothing more and no compromises” and with a stellar gathering of bands past to present (including Sri Metal pioneers Whirlwind headlining the concert, melodic death metal outfit Fallen Grace, Old Castles Massacre, Forsaken, Pariah Demise, Mass Damnation, Ablaze, Serpents Athirst, Last Long Sleep and thrash metal unit Manifestator who makes its first appearance on stage for the year 2012) the gig promises to be the beginning of something most definitely big.

Gig organiser and front man of Manifestator Gihan Mackay speaking about his new project explained that Manifestator was outcome of a project planned some 10 years ago. Mackay explained that his line up includes bassist Khaosterror and Blasphemous Wargoat, and drummer Nuklear Toxikator for his impending black thrash assault.

Whirlwind who seems to be making a comeback after a two year hiatus, their most recent gig being held just last December at the Warehouse Project, are also set to bring the house down.

Fans looking to purchase memorabilia at the concert can check out stalls by Ironwardrobe Rekords, The Sri Lankan Death Militia and Shiva’s which will be on site. For a minimal fee, bands will also be signing posters. The event will also pay a memorial to two fallen brothers in metal, Mario Siriwardena and Nadun Jayasuriya. Fans can get posters (Rs. 300/= per poster) autographed from their favorite bands at the concert.

Doom Over Colombo is supported by the SLDM (Sri Lankan Death Militia), Mathawaada Productions, the Sri Lankan Black Metal Syndicate, Ironwardrobe Rekords and AWN Radio. (Ceylon Today Online)
