The Swiss Government has deported three Sri Lankan Tamils on Friday who were found not eligible to seek asylum in Switzerland. The three Lankan Tamils have been deported as part of the decision taken by the Swiss Government to deport bogus asylum seekers from Switzerland.
Around 2,000 Sri Lankan Tamils who have overstayed in various parts of Switzerland have been found without any valid reason to seek asylum in Switzerland, reports said. In the past few weeks around thirteen bogus Lankan Tamils have been deported to Colombo by the Swiss officials, reports said.
The three Lankans deported on Friday were from Jaffna and they have been sent back to Sri Lanka as they did not possess any valid reason to seek asylum in Switzerland. The Swiss officials are also in the process of scanning other Lankan asylum seekers to check whether they genuinely need asylum.
Meanwhile the Swiss Federal State Prosecutor’s office and the anti Crimes division of the Swiss Federal police has launched an extensive investigations into the funds collected by the LTTE. As part of this probe a team of Swiss officials wil arrive in Colombo shortly to continue with their investigations. They are expected to grill around 26 persons in Sri Lanka over their dealings with the LTTE , reports said.
According to reports, Switzerland has been identified as the safe haven for the LTTE activists. But Swiss officials have decided to tighten their grip following the defeat of the LTTE in 2009, sources said.
