The UPFA Badulla Pradeshiya Sabha(PS) member K.H.S.H. de Silva, who was arrested for assaulting an on-duty officer attached to the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) was released on bail by the Badulla Magistrate’s Court, .

The suspect was released on two personal bails worth a sum of Rs. 50, 000 each after the Badulla police produced him before the Badulla Magistrate.

The police arrested the suspect on Saturday (4) night subsequent to a complaint lodged by the NWSDB officer at the Badulla police station last Friday (3).

The police Spokesperson, SP Ajith Rohana, said the NWSDB officer was assaulted when he was deployed to investigate a tube well project located in the Badulla Wineehagama area. He said the officer who sustained injuries, has been admitted to the Badulla Provincial General hospital for preliminary medications.  

The Badulla police have launched an investigation into the matter.
