Speaker directs MPs

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa today directed relevant Ministers who are chairing parliament consultative committees to be present in the chamber to submit reports of the respective committees to the house.

 

He said this when relevant Ministers of Industrial and Commerce, Housing and Common Amenities and Civil Aviation were not presented in the House when their names were called to table relevant committee reports.

 

Only Deputy Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene was present to submit the report of the consultative committee of the Ministry of Economic Development on behalf of Minister Basil Rajapaksa. However, Minister Rishard Bathuideen who walked in to the chamber later also presented the report of Ministry of Industries & Commerce Consultative Committee Report.

 

Speaker Rajapaksa noted that if relevant Ministers could not be present at the time, at least to nominate another member of the committee to submit the report to House.
