UNP, a legacy of the masses

By Pradeep Kumara Dharmaratne – Aranayaka

At a United National Party (UNP) political rally in Aranayaka on 18 August, in support of the UNP Provincial Council election candidate Upul Kariyawasam, Badulla District UNP MP, Harin Fernando said, “UNP is not a legacy of Ranil or Sajith, it is a legacy of the masses.”

“The government has hoodwinked the people by giving false promises, and they cannot keep on deceiving the people with their falsehood anymore. As the government has no other alternatives left, to hoodwink the people, they highlight the Ranil-Sajith clash. In the meantime, certain UNPers, being in the UNP itself, have resorted to make various statements to earn credit for themselves,” he added.

UNP Media Spokesman, Gayantha Karunathilaka, Kegalle District parliamentarian, Kabir Hasheem, Provincial Council candidate, Upul Kariyawasam, also addressed the gathering.

It is better to bring Ranil Only for one Meeting. Rest must be addressed by other speakers Including Sajith, Dayasiri, Karu. Then can attract people. (party supporters.) By doing so Ranil's character as leader can be protected.
