The Coast Conservation Department (CCD) has issued a stern warning against unauthorized construction along the coastal belt, saying anyone putting up such structures will be dealt with severely.
A spokesman for the CCD said those who set up unauthorized constructions will be fined between Rs 500 to Rs 2,500 when produced in court.
If the same person commits the same offence again he/she will be fined Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 per day.
The spokesman said there were too many unauthorized constructions along the Southern coastal belt.
