The Tamil National Alliance (TNA), Jaffna district Parliamentarian, Mavai Senathiraja, said the party would seek assistance from Canada and India to train the Local Government members and the officials of the local bodies under its purview in the North and East.
TNA Parliamentarian, Mavai Senathiraja, was speaking at a meeting yesterday at the Veerasingam hall, Jaffna, on making the Local Government bodies more effective towards serving the people.
Senathiraja said “The Local Government bodies in the North and East should be more effective and they should be trained to adopt new methods to be on par with International standards. For this purpose, assistance from countries such as Canada and India would be sought.”
He also condemned the Northern Governor, G.A. Chandrasiri, for his stance in taking over land for the Security Forces in Jaffna.
Senathiraja added the land grabbing issue in Jaffna will be dealt seriously by creating awareness among the people in the North.
