The Cinnamon Garden Police yesterday informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Court that a suspect had been arrested for the theft of stationary from the State Intelligence Service (SIS).
Manoj Ruwan Nawarathna, who was suspected of the theft and later pleaded guilty to the offence, was released on two personal bails of Rs 50,000 each by the Court.
He was arrested while carrying the stolen stationary using a fertilizer bag from the SIS’s record room on 22 June.
Chief Inspector, H.K. Amarasinghe of the SIS had made a complaint in this regard to the OIC of the Cinnamon Garden Police, Chief Inspector Kapila Premadasa.
The verdict of case is scheduled to be given, when the case is taken up on 10 July.
