The Negombo Magistrate’s Court yesterday remanded two suspects over murdering a person and for injuring two others over a personal dispute which occurred in Kepungoda beach, Negombo last week.

The suspects were arrested by Negombo police on Friday.

Police Spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana said that the victims who attended the beach for a family trip were assaulted with sharp objects by the suspects over a personal dispute.

The three victims who sustained serious injuries due to the assault were admitted to the Ragama hospital last Sunday (8). One of a the victims out of three succumbed to his serious injuries.

 The deceased was identified as N.P.H.P. Krishantha Perera (44) who was a resident of Kanuwana, Ja-Ela area.

According to Rohana, the Negombo police are conducting further inquires to apprehend another two suspects who had fled the area after the incident.

The remanded two suspects will be produced in Court again on 19 July.
