India’s prolific batsman and Sri Lanka’s bogeyman Virat Kohli believes he has found his feet once again after a demoralizing show in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and that it came against his favorite opponent was even more soothing.
“I wanted to forget the IPL. It (century) was a confidence booster and very important to stay comfortable and relaxed. I can’t help if I am scoring against them (Sri Lanka)”, said Kohli who made his fourth hundred against Sri Lanka and the 12th of his career in the first ODI in Hambantota on Saturday.
Kohli put on a match-turning 173 runs partnership with Virender Sehwag but not before both batsmen were let off on 1 and 16 respectively.
But Kohli also believes that if not for Sehwag, it could have been a different story for him.
“When Viru (Sehwag) hits the ball the way he was batting, it makes it easy for you and you can be relaxed”, said Kohli.
More than any other batsman Kohli has become a thorn in the flesh of the Sri Lankans who know he has become too familiar with them.
“Kohli is a confidence player. He loves our bowling attack”, said Jayawardena. (CD)
