Kumar Sangakkara the living legend, arguably the best Test batsman Sri Lanka has ever produced, added another feather into his cap by renewing the world cricket book. As a matter of fact this record was formed in the second and the last Test match against Bangladesh.
He became the only batsman to go past each and every milestone in a match with a boundary. The prominent left handed batsman made a triple century in the first innings and he reached his 50,100,150, 200, 250 and 300 in boundaries. He spiced up the match by scoring a century in the second innings in the same manner as he passed his fifty and century hitting a four and a six respectively.
So far he remains the only batsman to achieve this milestone in a Test match. This was not done deliberately and it happened spontaneously because by no means it is an easy task to score a century followed by a triple and pass 50,100,150,200,250,300 in boundaries. On Sri Lankans part this is something to cheer about and this will not be an easy record to break since the scores are beyond reach and must come deliberately.
This shows how he reached his triple century and century.
319 in 1st Innings –
*42.3 Mahmudullah to Sangakkara, SIX, (reaches his fifty with a thump over deep midwicket! Another short ball with ample room to free his arms and get all the leverage he could possibly want. Solid strike)
*62.5 Mahmudullah to Sangakkara, FOUR, (a neat little tickle to the long leg boundary fetches Sanga a flawless century. Strays in line and is put away duly. He's not been able to convert into three figures, but this time he has played a marvelous innings)
*86.5 Al-Amin Hossain to Sangakkara, FOUR,( full and homing in on leg stump but Sanga is too strong there, whips it away through midwicket to signal his 150. Only Tendulkar, Lara and Bradman have more 150+ scores than him)
*108.4 Mahmudullah to Sangakkara, FOUR,( there it is! another double for Sangakkara, it is the ninth of his career, only the peerless Don has more, once more Sangakkara steps down the track and launches the ball over mid-on for four more, Sri Lanka have reached 400 as well)
*136.6 Sohag Gazi to Sangakkara, FOUR, (too much flight from Gazi that time and Sanga adds to his misery as he dances down the track, turns it into a full toss and launches it over mid-on to register his 250. Crisp, clean and ruthlessly efficient)
*147.5 Shakib Al Hasan to Sangakkara, SIX, (six to reach 300 and he has his hands aloft! Four, six and then another one sent over midwicket and this was the biggest of the lot. They're trying to cramp him on leg stump but Sanga's keeps his front foot out of the way as he charged down the track and set it into orbit)
105 in 2nd Innings –
*46.1 Mahmudullah to Sangakkara, FOUR, (slaps it behind point to raise his fifty. He's looked unstoppable in this Test. Easy put away as this was short and wide delivered outside off.)
*61.1 Sohag Gazi to Sangakkara, SIX, (too short and he's launched that over the wide long-on boundary and he raises his ton! Becomes the second player in history to hit a triple century and a century in the same Test. What a playar!)
