Parents of grade five scholarship students in Polgahawela protested yet again yesterday, urging the government to take action against those responsible for leaking questions from the exam paper.
Over 100 parents and students protested in the morning again, claiming that they were certain beyond doubt that the papers were leaked.
Speaking to Ceylon Today, Damayanthi Seneviratne, a parent of a scholarship candidate from Polgahawela Maha Vidyalaya, said though there were rumours, the questions had leaked out the day before the exam, no one had believed it.
“On the morning of the scholarship, there were a group of parent at the school, and they were talking about a few questions that they said will definitely be in the paper. We dismissed it as we didn’t believe that questions of such an important exam could leak out. However, after the first paper, during the half hour break, our children came and told us what questions they had, and they were the exact questions that were discussed by the particular group of parents earlier,” she said.
If the examinations could not be conducted again, she urged the government to take immediate action against those who were irresponsible enough to allow the questions to be leaked out, and to take preventive measures to put a stop to such things from happening in the future.
