Minister Mervyn Silva, addressing the media at the court complex said he was able to bear the Magistrate’s orders remanding his son until 24 September as he is a staunch Buddhist and his beliefs gave him strength.
“There was an incident involving myself in Beliattha but it never appeared in the newspapers. People fight and get into squabbles. But the Malaka issue was `blown up’ because he is my son. If it was anyone else, there wouldn’t have been any publicity,” he said.
