After two successful seasons, our friendly neighbourhood speedster returns for a third, with new villains, new heroes and a whole new timeline. This season the CW has taken a bold risk taking on one of the most difficult stories, in terms of producing and directing, in the DC universe, Flashpoint.

For those who haven't watched or heard of the Flash, it is a spin-off from the Arrow series and is airing in the CW. It was created by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns, based on the character of the same name from the DC comics. It follows Flash, AKA Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), who was an ordinary forensic scientist who had his whole world changed when a particle accelerator exploded granting him the power of superhuman speed.

He uses the powers given to him for good, and fights criminals which are usually other meta-humans (people with superpowers) like him, who are too much for the Police to handle. The first season was a hit with the fans, as it was comic accurate and featured the Flash's biggest rival and the man who killed his mother, Eobard Thawne, AKA the Reverse Flash (Matt Letscher). Together with his team consisting of Dr. Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco Romon/Vibe (Carlos Valdes), Iris West (Candice Patton) and Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), they bring down the Reverse Flash, however, in doing so Barry accidently opened a portal to another earth.

Season 2 starts off from there as Barry closes the portal with help from Firestrom (Victor Garber and Robbie Amell), but then they realize smaller portals have been open all throughout central city. Villains from the other earth, dubbed Earth-2, start coming through as they are ordered to kill the Flash by another speedsters, Zoom, who is hell-bent on being the only speedster. This season also introduces us to Wally West (Kelynan Lonsdale) who is Joe's son and Iris's brother, and is also known as the Kid Flash in the comics. Barry eventually defeats Zoom but he loses his father as well. Unable to deal with another lose he goes back in time and saves his mother.

In the premier episode of season 3 he comes back to the present day and everything has changed. While he is happy with his new life, he eventually starts to realize his losing the memories he had of his old world. Barry had the Reverse Flash imprisoned so he won't kill his mother, but the Reverse Flash explains that if Barry wants to get out of this 'Flashpoint' world and go back to the way things were, Barry needs to let him kill his mother.

Barry returns to his old world thinking everything is back to normal, but it isn't, he just went ahead and created another time line, he soon realizes that he can't go back, cause every time he goes back and tries to fix everything he creates a whole new time line. All the while, a new super villain named Alchemy is bringing back the villains from the other time lines into this one.
So far the season has been kind of confusing and interesting at the same time, hopefully all the questions get answered in the episodes to come. However, the first season did do better and had a far better response from the fans. But The Flash still generates a lot of interest and therefore, has the fans coming back for more.
