CT Sports: Sri Lanka Netball Association (SLNA) general election which was scheduled to be held on 29 April has been postponed due to the audit report not being completed and forwarded to the membership along with the nomination list, as required fourteen days before the election.

By letter dated 10 March SLNA had informed members that the election will be held on 29 April and nominations should be handed over before 11 April, but had failed to attach the financial report to the letter to members before the deadline, and this is the main reason for the election to be postponed.

When Ceylon Today queried from, Champa Gunawardene, the General Secretary of SLNA, said that the Minister of Sports Dayasiri Jayasekara had decided to postpone the election due to the audit report not being finalized before the election.
According to the amended sports law all National Sports Associations must submit the government audited report before the election and all elections should be conducted and concluded before 31 May.
The Ministry of Sports recently dissolved the election of the Sri Lanka Badminton Association after they conducted the election without the government audit report.
