‘Singer Trophy’ U-15 division 1 cricket Tournament will commence next month

The 'Singer Trophy' Under-15 Division 1 inter schools cricket tournament will start next month (May). 81 teams are scheduled to participate and will be divided into 11 groups. This tournament is conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and sponsored by Singer Sri Lanka PLC.

This tournament will be conduct on a new format from last year. The match is confined to one day with a time limit of six (6) hours and twenty (20) minutes. A minimum of 95 overs shall be bowled and no team will be allowed to bat more than 65 overs.
Nalanda College Colombo was last year's champion and St. Sebastian's College Moratuwa was runner up.
Last year's champion of division two St. Joseph's College Wattala and semi finalist of division two Kelani Vidyalaya have been promoted to division one.

Zahira College (A) Colombo and Susamayawardhane MV Colombo have been demoted to division two from division one.
First round matches (81 teams) will be played on a league basis, of which 40 teams will qualify for the second round.
Second round also will be played on a league basis and divided into 8 groups. Champions and runner up teams in each group (16 teams) will qualify for the pre-quarter final round. One day limited over matches will be played from the pre-quarter final onwards.

Last season, two day matches were played from the quarter final onwards.
