Veteran Cricketers Circle held a seminar for school coaches and MICs on the responsibilities and virtues of participating in sports at the MCA on Wednesday. The speakers at this seminar were Roshan Mahanama, Mahela Jayawardena and Kumara Dharmasena who gave invaluable advice.

"We can support you all to go together to produce quality respectable cricketers and above all quality respectable citizens of the country. Some of them have got permanent residency in other countries. We have not got that. We feel for the country. Because we live in an era where there are no values. So it is up to you to decide whether you are going to do the right thing by sports for your country. Great coaches teach us to behave ethically. Winning is important but not at any cost. What you need to produce are cricketers who are competitive and play the sport in the right spirit," said Roshan Mahanama, former Sri Lanka Captain and former IC Match Referee.

Former Sri Lanka cricketer and ICC Elite panel Cricket Umpire Kumara Dharmasena, former Sri Lanka cricket Captain Mahela Jayawardena and Nelson Mendis veteran coach were the elite speakers at the event.

Coaches and Masters in Charge of the 36 schools of division one school cricket teams in the ongoing under-19 cricket tournament joined in this event.

This was an attempt in order by the VCC to uplift the nation's school cricket structure.
