National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader, MP Wimal Weerawansa yesterday claimed that the Government is trying to pass the proposed new Constitution in Parliament in a corrupt manner, without caring about the opinion of the Judiciary.

Addressing a media briefing, at the NFF Head Office, Weerawansa said that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe always presented the Parliament with different draft Bills instead of the ones the Government presented to the Judiciary. This is how he passed several Acts in the past, he hit out.

Furthermore, the NFF Leader said that this Government wants to please the West and the Tamil Diaspora. "If this proposed Constitution gets passed, then there will be no Central Government. It will remain as a nominal one without any power over the country as a whole," he asserted.

"This Constitution, which was brought to divide the country, according to the Federal system will not bring any justice to both Tamil and Muslim people. Instead, they will have to suffer because this government does not care about them, but the Western based Tamil Diaspora," he elaborated.

Weerawansa also said that the government tries to cover up this matter by bringing up other unimportant issues. However, they will not let the government play with that card, he added.
