Human Library held in Sammanthurai

A Human Library Project was conducted at the Amir Ali Public Library in Sammanthurai on Sunday (30 October). This programme has been organized by the Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA) with the support of GIZ (German Society for International Cooperation).

The Human Library is an international movement that promotes an inclusive way to challenge prejudice through social contact. Life member of SLLA and Chartered Librarian M.M. Rifaudeen facilitated the programme on behalf of the SLLA, under the guidance of the President of SLLA, Dr. Pradeepa Wijatunge.

The theme of the Human Library was 'Reconciliation Through Art'. Authorized and reputed Human books like Prof. Rameez Abdulla, M.M Fazil, Senior Lecturer in Politics & Peace Studies, U.L. Aliyar, Retd. Director of Education, Artist. Sesilia, V.T. Sahadeva Raja, and Assistant Director of Education, Dr.M.C.M. Kalith, Irfan Moulana Journalist and Jothiraja Karunenthra were borrowed by the readers. Around 100 readers, such as undergraduates, professionals and the general public participated, borrowed and read the human books. It was a very interesting and interactive programme.
