HNB Grameen, a dynamic and fast growing finance company which pioneered microfinance in Sri Lanka, recently made a significant donation of medical equipment worth Rs.3.5 million to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital(LRH) Colombo.
The initiative was in line with their annual CSR projects to uplift deserving individuals in society. This was made possible through the generous contribution made by the staff and customers of HNB Grameen.

The donation took place at the hospital's auditorium in the presence of Chief Guest LRH Director, Dr.W.K. Wickramasinghe, HNB Grameen Finance, MD/CEO, Chaminda Prabhath, COO, Priyalal Arangala, Deputy General Manager, Bimal Seneviratne along with other officials and medical staff of the hospital.

The donation included a special five-headed Olympus Teaching Microscope (Model – BX53), which was much- needed for the Haematological Laboratory of the Hospital. The special microscope allows up to five doctors and medical students to simultaneously observe haematological specimens for diagnosis and teaching purposes. The microscope offers higher clarity of detail and better illumination, eliminating the need for additional lighting equipment. In addition, two Capnography extensions were also donated to the Preliminary Care Unit of the Paediatric Section which is responsible for conducting initial examinations and diagnosis of children, prior to admission to the hospital. The Capnography extensions enable easy detection of carbon dioxide levels of children suffering from asthma, while it facilitates early detection of lung disease.

MD Prabhath thanked the staff and customers of HNB Grameen for their contribution towards this worthy cause. He added, "HNB Grameen, as a responsible financial company conducts a number of CSR projects on an annual basis, focusing on children. Our Company believes in supporting the future generation by strengthening child healthcare services as 'Health is Wealth' which assures financial stability. The 'Yalu' children's savings account was introduced by HNB Grameen to support this cause and empower children to overcome economic challenges."
