JL Morisons plans to invest US$13.5M in pharmaceutical plant

A subsidiary of Hemas Holdings, J L Morisons Son & Jones (Ceylon) PLC is planning to invest US$ 13.5 million to construct a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Pitipana.

According to a Colombo Stock Exchange filing, the commercial operations of the plant is expected to begin somewhere in 2019.

The company said that the new research and manufacturing facility would be located within Sri Lanka's Institute of Nanotechnology's nano-technology park in Pitipana, Homagama, which the government opened late last year.

The company said that the plant was expected to enhance the manufacturing capacity significantly and comply with global standards for pharmaceuticals.
