Kapugedera ton boosts Kandy

Kandy are leading the points table after beating Dambulla yesterday. At the Colts ground Dambulla won the toss and elected to field, and Kandy went on to score 336 runs for 7 wickets in their 50 overs. Chamara Kapugedera scored a belligerent 102 runs in 90 balls with 8 boundaries and 3 sixes. Lahiru Madushanka scored an unbeaten 90 runs in 62 balls with 6 boundaries and 6 sixes.

Chamara Kapugedera and Lahiru Madhusanka put on a 88 run stand for the 7th wicket. Ramith Rambukwella scored an unbeaten 52 runs. For Dambulla Dilruwan Perera, Asitha Fernando and Nuwan Kulasekara took 2 wickets each.

In reply Dambulla were bowled out for 317 in 48.5 overs. Harsha Cooray scored 109 runs off 119 balls with 10 boundaries and 3 sixes. Kusal Mendis got 77 and Udara Jayasundara scored 41 runs. Harsha Cooray and Kusal Mendis put on a 114 run partnership for the 3rd wicket. In the bowling department Kandy paceman Lahiru Gamage took 4 wickets for 45 runs and spinner Dhanushka Gunathilake took 3 wickets for 23 runs.
