Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has warned actor-turned politician Ranjan Ramanayake against criticizing the Government and the Party Leader.

"You cannot criticize the Government while being in it.

If you want to criticize then you must leave the Government, "the PM sternly warned Ramanayake, who is the Deputy Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare. "While being in the party, you cannot attack the party or its leader, and if you want to do that, you can get out from the party and do it", PM Wickremesinghe said.

The PM was reacting to a statement made in Parliament by Ranjan Ramanayake that stated: "This Government is also safeguarding rogues".

Last week when the United National Party (UNP) held a workshop with the participation of UNP MPs at Hotel Hilton, the PM summoned Ranjan close to him and issued the stern warning.

On the following day too at the UNP working committee meeting, the PM once again told MP Ramanayake that if he wishes to be with the Government, he should maintain cordial relationship within.
