In an interesting turn of events, a group of parents, of students studying at the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM), met the Medical Faculty Parents' Union (MFPU) yesterday and discussed issues concerning the medical facility.

"The discussions went well. We are hoping to meet again in another week," a parent who participated at the meeting told Ceylon Today. It was learnt that group of SAITM parents had raised concerns about conducting examinations for final year students at SAITM without resolving the existing issues with the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC). The Higher Education Ministry, in a letter to the Chairman of SAITM, had requested him to look into the request made by the Parents Association of the 4th Batch, studying Medicine at SAITM, to postpone the final year MBBS Examination. SAITM was requested to provide the parents with a suitable redress and inform the Higher Education Ministry.
