The special Dengue Prevention Programme, now underway in the Western Province, as an initiative of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West), continued on Friday (14) covering Hanwella, Homagama, Kaduwela, Piliyandala, Pitakotte, Kahathuduwa, Attanagalla, Mirigama, Dompe, Biyagama, Kelaniya, Horana, Mathugama, Wadduwa and Bandaragama areas in the Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara Districts.

Around 500 troops of the 141, 142 and 582 Brigades, Sri Lanka Light Infantry and Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, moved out to most congested areas in search of Dengue breeding spots and other vulnerable points.

In parallel with the same programme, Army personnel of the nine Gemunu Watch are currently engaged in Dengue eradication drives elsewhere in the Dodangoda area.

This Dengue Eradication Campaign in Colombo got off to a start on Saturday (1) at the MOH office near the Sugathadasa Stadium, after a brief discussion, headed by Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - West, Medical Officer of Health for Colombo North and Colombo Municipal Council authorities.

The eradication programme will continue until further notice.
