Young Sri Lankans to engage in global digital economy

Creating a golden opportunity for young Sri Lankans to engage in the global digital economy, Third Space Global (TSG) opened its regional headquarters in Sri Lanka yesterday(Wednesday). The BOI approved company is owned by UK- based mother company and is a purely a export-oriented company.

According to Tom Hooper who is the founder and CEO of Third Space Learning which is the mother company "Sri Lankans have the right blend of talent and culture that suites education and teaching". Further he noted that adopting new technology was the only way that could cater to dynamic teaching skills needed in the modern era.

According to Hooper one of the key issues in the coming years is to find teachers with the right skills set in developed countries due to various changes taking place around the world, therefore employing young enigmatic Sri Lankans was a great opportunity.
Speaking at the event CEO of TSG, Roshan Nilaweera said, "The uniqueness of our Company is that we provide the best teaching experience to our students combining highly trained tutors having newest teaching techniques with modern technology.
Roshan who has ambitious plans to create 1000 jobs for young Sri Lankans stressed "Young Sri Lankans are really busy since they are working while teaching, so we are providing a platform to open their future to the world".

According to the press release, the Third Space Global is building the world's first global scalable teaching network of highly trained online tutors supported by the cutting edge technology.

The release also states that Third Space Global currently employs over 200 persons annually from Sri Lanka and most of them were first-time job seekers and they had never considered a career path in teaching. Despite the fact the excellent training provided with the support of foreign experts have made them great tutors. They expect that the new office facility will provide a conducive working environment and culture within the Company.

Roshan Nilaweera who is a British-born Sri Lankan believes that there were many other non-resident Sri Lankans who were willing to come and invest in Sri Lanka under the right conditions.

Third Space Global is keen to support education in Sri Lanka through CSR programmes which they are doing at the moment with their free e-learning hub programme for Sri Lankan kids who are between the ages of 8-16.This programme facilitates students with free online e-learning programmes to manage their own learning schedules as they work. TSG staff is facilitating students to develop autonomy and independent thinking and problem solving skills.

The Company ambiguously has projected a growth of 200% over the next 24 months entering new markets and geographies. This will provide the opoertunity to open new offices across Sri Lanka.

Nilaweera believes that TSG is an exciting statement for innovation and development that Sri Lanka is capable of.
