Landslides warning for Kegalle, Matara

People living in the Kegalle and Matara Districts have been advised to remain on high alert for possible landslides due to the prevailing weather conditions.

Disaster Management Centre (DMC) Spokesman Pradeep Kodippili told Ceylon Today that the DMC has alerted the residents of Kegalle and Matara as well those in the Ingiriya, Bulathsinhala and Agalawatte areas to be vigilant for impending landslides.

Kodippili has advised all residents to be weary of hazardous situations that may arise due to potential landslides.

Meanwhile, the Met Department said that showers or thundershowers will occur at most parts of the island. Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are expected at some places, Particularly in North-Central Province and in the Matale district.
