Lanka, Iran in prisoner swap Agreement to be signed soon

An agreement is to be signed between Sri Lanka and Iran facilitating the exchange of prisoners held in both countries shortly, a press release issued by the Ministry of Justice said yesterday.

A discussion towards this end was held between Justice Minister Thalatha Athukorala and the Iranian envoy to Sri Lanka Mohamed Zari Amirani yesterday.

The discussions were centred on the procedure needed to carry out the process of exchanging prisoners held in the two countries, the statement added.

A final agreement on the prisoner swap is to be signed between Athukorala and Amirani shortly.
