The Prison Department in collaboration with the Institute of Supply and Materials Management (ISMM) recently organized a two-day workshop on Materials Management for the respective officers who are engaged in the Stores and Supplies operations.

The ISMM came forward to support this worthy cause, waived off institutional charges and appointed eminent resource personnel to conduct the two day programme.

The acting President of the ISMM I.G. Perera was the guest speaker at the inaugural session which was held at the Prison Head Quarter's Training Centre Auditorium.

The main topics discussed at the work shop were Inventory Management, Stores Functions and an Overview of Purchasing Functions.

The event saw the participation of some 100 Prison officers and this was the first time that the Department had organized a workshop of this nature.

The Prison Training School's Director, Asst. Supt. of Prisons, M. Lahier, and Chief Jailer L. P. Warnakulasuriya, organized the two-day workshop under the direction of the Commissioner General of Prisons H. N. P. Dhanasingha and Commissioner, J. Upuldeniya.

S. A. C. Perera and Jayantha Wijesinghe successfully conducted the workshop on behalf of the ISMM.
