Interim Report on CA Constituent parties to be consulted – Senathirajah

Jaffna District Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian and Leader of the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Katchchi (ITAK) Mavai S. Senathirajah said, that consultations and discussions on the Interim Report of......the Constitutional Assembly would be extensively carried out with all constituent parties in the Tamil National Alliance as well as with the Tamil intellectuals.

Senathiraja chaired the ITAK's action committee meeting, which was held for the first time in the Ampara district last Sunday, with the participation of the Leader of the Opposition and TNA leader R. Sampanthan.

Senathirajah commenting on the Ampara meeting told Ceylon Today that the ITAK Parliamentarians from the North and East and other members of the party were of the view that the Constitutional Assembly's Interim Report should be discussed and made available for extensive consultation among the TNA's constituent parties and Tamil intellectuals.

TNA's Jaffna District Parliamentarian S. Sritharan commenting on the Interim report said that it should be placed for an extensive debate and discussion before taking a decision on the report.

Responding to Sritharan's views Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan said that he was prepared for any form of discussion on the Interim Report.

Sritharan also pointed out that opinions of the civil society and Tamil professionals and intellectuals should also be sought.

The ITAK member also pointed out that there were various areas in the Interim report to be cleared further in order to educate the people in the North and East on the new Constitution making process.
