Forest Dept releases Kanagar village land Kodeeswaran to build houses for resettlement

The Urani Kanagar Gramam(Village) area, in the Pottuvil DS Division, which was occupied by the Forest Department during the last 35 years, has been released and Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian Kaveenthran Kodeeswaran has planned to construct houses and resettle the owners in their own lands.

At a meeting, held at the Pottuvil Divisional Secretariat recently, presided over by the Divisional Secretary N.M. Muzarrath, Parliamentarian Kodeeswaran gave a brief account of the current situation and the action he had taken to get the lands of 42 persons released from the Forest Department and the assurance given by Minister of Rehabilitation, Resettlement, Prison Reforms and Hindu Religious Affairs D.M. Swaminathan.

Kodeeswaran also invited suggestions from the public. Finally, he said that each family would be given 80 perches.
