Shares hit new one-week low

The Colombo Stock Exchange posted losses for the second consecutive market day on Tuesday (17) as the benchmark index slipped to a new one-week low, with foreigners pulling out.
The benchmark All Share Price Index on Tuesday (17) slipped 0.36% (23.89 points) to close at 6,572.05 points, its lowest since 11 October, while the S&P SL 20 representing the top 20 listed entities gained 0.07% (2.68 points) to close at 3,847.98 points.
The day's turnover reached Rs 1.9 billion, lower than Monday's (16) turnover of Rs 688 million, with 96 losers against 49 winners.
Foreigners were net sellers on Tuesday (17). Net foreign outflow during the day reached Rs 1.11 billion as sales amounted to Rs 1.47 billion as against purchases worth of Rs 364 million.

Nearly 99.7 million shares changed hands on Tuesday during 4,393 trades taking place. The share price of Dialog Axiata slipped 3.08% (40 cents) to close at Rs 12.60 as 72,165 shares changed hands during 51 trades, Sri Lanka Telecom slipped 5.35% (Rs 1.70) to close at Rs 30.10 as 8,054 shares changed hands during 15 trades, while the share price of Lion Brewery slipped 4.73% (Rs 24.60) to close at Rs 495.40 as 220 shares changed hands during 8 trades. On a positive note, the share price of Ceylon Cold Stores gained 2.83% (Rs 27) to close at Rs 982.10 as 251,903 shares changed hands during 90 trades, Commercial Bank gained 0.55% (60 cents) to close at Rs 110.60 as 2,612 shares changed hands during 11 trades, while the share price of Bukit Darah gained 4.61% (Rs 9.70) to close at Rs 220 as 105 shares changed hands during 2 trades.
