Opener Danushka Gunathilaka got away with a reduced sentence as his six match ban was reduced to three matches by SLC Executive Committee and he can now make a return to the SL team during the ongoing tour against Pakistan
"The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket yesterday (16) decided to revise the suspension imposed on Dhanushka Gunathilaka upon consideration of the appeal made on behalf of Gunathilaka by the Sinhalese Sports Club. Gunathilaka was served a 6 International match suspension and imposed a fine of 20% of his Annual Contract fee having been found in breach of Section 30 of the SLC Constitution and several terms of his contract," said SLC in a statement

"Accordingly, Gunathilaka will now serve a suspension of 3 International matches (instead of 6) and be fined 20% of his Annual Contract fee, whilst he will serve the balance 3 International matches as a sentence suspended for one (1) year, whereby he shall be suspended for three matches in the event of any further breach during the period of 1 year," it was further stated in the said statement.

Gunathilaka has already served a two match ban out of the three and his ban will be completed following the next ODI after which he will be available for selection from the fourth ODI onwards.

Meanwhile, if he agrees to play in Pakistan, he will be included in the T20 squad which will travel to Pakistan.
