Dashing right hander Sadeera Samarawickrama is set to fly to UAE today to be included in the squad for the 4th and 5th ODIs to be played against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, Ceylon Today reliably learns.

Samarawickrama impressed during the second Test batting at number three, where he made a fluent quick fire 38. He had been in magnificent form for SL 'A' team and at club level scoring a bulk of runs.

Samarawickrama was to fly to the West Indies to join the SL 'A' team, but even after ten days since his arrival from the Test series, he is yet received the required visa for him to travel, which is the responsibility of the SLC. Similarly Roshen Silva who arrived in SL following the first Test played from 6-10 October received the visa only on Monday 16 for him to travel to the West Indies, whereas the SL 'A' team left the country on 7 October.

The Sri Lanka team which played the last two ODIs included five left handers in the top seven of their batting order and Pakistan used two off- spinners against them. Hence, it will be a welcome addition when Samarawickrama comes in to the top order.
The 22-year-old former Josephian wicket-keeper batsman was named the 'Best Batsman' in SLC Super Provincial Limited Over Tournament 2017 where he amassed 343 runs in 7 matches for Galle with an average of 49 including 2 centuries.
