Dashing left hander Kusal Janith Perera failed to prove his match fitness when he failed a fitness test on Tuesday, subsequently ruling him out from a comeback for the forthcoming three match T20I series against Pakistan.

He hasn't played for Sri Lanka since his match winning knock in the Champions Trophy where he ended up with a hamstring injury.

Ceylon Today learns that he had been considered to lead the SL team to Pakistan after several high profile players withdrew from the T20I to be played at Lahore.

Perera will now hope to make areturn when Sri Lanka tours India in November where the island nation will play three Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is.

The three match T20 Pakistan series will start on 26 October, with the third match to be played on 29 October at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.
