Mercantile Netball League Tournament HNB clinch two titles

Hatton National Bank beat Seylan Bank 51-46 to annex the Mercantile Netball 'A' Division League title at the Mercantile Netball League Tournament 2017 conducted by the Mercantile Netball Association at the Torrington Sports Complex yesterday.

Citizen Development Business Finance (CDB) ended as second runners-up.

The competition was conducted in five categories. The 'B' Division champions were Commercial Bank who beat Nations Trust Bank (NTB) 29-19 to secure the title, while Sampath Bank finished as the second runners-up. In the 'C' Division MAS became champs when they beat HSBC.

In the 'D' Division Omega 'A' emerged champions beating WNS 25-8 with Brandix ending as second runners-up. In the Open Mixed category HNB won the champions title when they defeated Seylan Bank 21-10 in the final and Nations Trust Bank were placed second runners-up.

Gayani Dissanayake (HNB) was adjudged Netball Queen considering her overall performance during the two day tourney. The tallest netball player in Sri Lanka Tharjani Sivalingam (Seylan Bank) was adjudged the Best Shooter, while Junior National Captain Charuni Mandira (Seylan) was awarded best defender award and the best centre was Gayanjali Amarawansa (HNB).
