He top scored with 49 in 95 balls, while Kevin Koththigoda (20) and Nuwanidu Fernando (14) helped to consolidate. Pakistan bowlers Munir Riaz and Muhammad Musa formed a deadly combination and shared six wickets.

Pakistan were cruising with Rohail Nazir (48) and Mohammad Taha (31) leading the run chase, but a flurry of wickets fell when approaching the target, but got over the line in the 33rd over losing seven wickets. Praveen Jayawickrama (4/28) was the main wrecker.

Sri Lanka will now have to await the result of the game between Afghanistan and UAE which will decide their fate.
