Dialog Champions League Moragasmulla shocks Blue Star

Moragasmulla Sports Club created a major upset when they defeated Blue Star SC 1-0 in their Dialog Champions League match played at the Vernon Fernando Stadium yesterday.

The match was hosted by Blue Star. Both teams played a slow game but Moragasmulla SC was made to defend most of the Blue Star attacks at goal in the first half. This later was turned upside down and helped them to shock favourite Blue Star on their home soil. It was Imesh Wasantha who scored the winning goal for the Moragasmulla SC. Moragasmulla secured their first point in the Dialog Champions League with a morale boosting 1-1 draw against Matara City at the Matara Football Complex. Army SC beat Police SC by 1-nil in the game played at the CR and FC and Cops overcame Matara City recently before securing the victory with the change of appointing the new coach Mahinda Galagedara to the coaching department. Both teams played well during the game. Army's Tharindu Dhanushka who netted a goal in the 55th minute helped them to win over Police SC.

New Young overcame Upcountry by 4-2 played at Jayathilaka Stadium. Nigerian player U.L. Chimezie's two goals in the first and second half and S. Pradeep and A.R. Muskeen shared one goal each for the winners. M.L. Nuwan and Nigerian Emma each scored goals for Upcountry SC.

Meanwhile, defending champions Colombo FC stunned Negombo SC going on scoring spree with seven goals to one in another fixture played at Negombo.

Saunders SC beat Navy SC by 3-2 scoring the third goal in the second half played at Welisara Navy Base.
