The Propaganda Secretary of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO) Ganesh Velayutham recently said that a favourable solution can be expected on 29 November, with regard to the issue of three PTA detainees, Darshan, Sulakshan, and Thiruvarul, who have been on a hunger strike, at the Anuradhapura Prison, for the past 40 days.

Velayutham stated that the PTA detainees had submitted a writ application to the Court of Appeal urging it to intervene and not allow the cases to be heard at the Anuradhapura Court. When this case was taken up for hearing, one witness, who initially objected to transferring the case to Vavuniya, had agreed.

"As one witness had agreed to the transfer of the case to Vavuniya and the other two are out of the country, the Counsel appearing for the prisoners is hopeful that the case will reach a favourable ending at the next hearing," he added. Meanwhile, Darshan's mother, Chithra said, "Those who have committed major crimes are set free. Therefore, they must take action to release my son who may have committed a comparatively lesser crime."

Sulakshan's mother, Pushpamala said, "We don't have any support. I'm living alone with my daughters. My son should be released."
Thiruvarul's wife, Subaitha said, "We have been continuously praying for my husband. His case should be transferred back to Vavuniya."

They were speaking at a media briefing held at the Jaffna Press Club on Wednesday (15).
