President Maithripala Sirisena has written to Lord Naseby expressing his deep appreciation for the efforts taken by the British MP to further Sri Lanka's cause.

President Sirisena thanked Lord Naseby for keeping him periodically informed about the matter, acknowledging especially the securing of the dispatches of Colonel Anton Gash, material which, Sirisena stated would be an invaluable source of information in arriving at a correct assessment of the details pertaining to the final stages of the conflict.

"I have followed with keen interest the debate on Sri Lanka in the House of Lords held on 12 October, which you secured with much effort. It was noted that an overwhelming majority of the speakers spoke well of the efforts taken by the Government of Sri Lanka toward promoting reconciliation, accountability, human rights and good governance. Your intervention, in particular, would assist my country in its efforts towards seeking the truth and countering the propaganda levelled against the country," he added.
