Petrol bomb hurled at SLTB bus

One individual sustained injuries when a petrol bomb was hurled at a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus in Pallebedda, Embilipitiya yesterday (23) morning, the Police said. The bus belonged to the Moneragala Depot. The Police Media Spokesman noted that the driver of the bus was admitted to the Embilipitiya District General Hospital with severe burns.

The incident occurred when the bus was passing the Sudugala bend (en route to Colombo from Moneragala).

The Police added that the home-made incendiary device had damaged the front of the bus as well. The petrol bomb was thrown by a person who was on top of a Bo Tree, near the Sudugala bend. The suspect is yet to be arrested.
