The Lanka Microfinance Practitioners' Association (LMFPA) will host the South Asian Regional Microfinance Conference 2018 on 6 and 7 March 2018 at Cinnamon Lakeside, expecting a turnout of around 300 local and foreign delegates as well as around 70 speakers from South Asia, Europe and USA, a press release stated.

As a preliminary step, LMFPA held the introductory session and cocktail of this conference recently at Kingsbury Residences, which was attended by stakeholders of the microfinance, banking and finance, ICT, and telecommunication industries, the release added.
The South Asian Micro-entrepreneurs Network (SAMN), the regional microfinance hub, organizes the regional conference. It has successfully concluded two conferences in Islamabad and New Delhi in 2014 and 2016, respectively.

The conference will gather leading practitioners, donors, investors, research organizations and regulators who are devoted to inclusive finance. Under the theme, 'Deepening Financial Inclusion in South Asia', the conference intends to explore various insights, including technology, innovations, mobile payments, social performance, regulations, etc.

LMFPA President Imran Nafeer stated, "The conference will be a landmark event for Sri Lanka's microfinance industry. It is a good opportunity for microfinance institutions in Sri Lanka and the region to showcase their work and their contribution to financial inclusion."

Citi Foundation and Convergences International are the lead and co-sponsors of the conference for year 2018, the release concluded.
