Shares recover from near 3-month low

The Colombo Stock Exchange posted gains on Thursday (07) as the benchmark index recovered from a near three-month low, despite foreigners exiting the market.

The benchmark All Share Price Index on Thursday (07) gained 0.03 per cent (02.04 points) to close at 6,382.95 points, while the S&P SL 20 representing the top 20 listed entities gained 0.11 per cent (4.05 points) to close at 3,712.61 points.
The day's turnover reached Rs 985 million, lower than Wednesday's (06) Rs 1.2 billion, with 64 winners ahead of 54 losers.
Foreigners were net sellers on Thursday (07). Net foreign outflow during the day reached Rs 37 million, as sales amounted to Rs 557 million as against purchase worth of Rs 520 million.

Nearly 24.3 million shares changed hands on Thursday (07) during 2,575 trades taking place.
The share price of Asiri Hospital Holdings gained 4.94 per cent (Rs 1.20) to close at Rs 25.50 as 145,944 shares changed hands during 17 trades, Sampath Bank gained 1.33 per cent (Rs 4.40) to close at Rs 335.50 as 205,011 shares changed hands during 147 trades, while the share price of Sri Lanka Telecom gained 1.40 per cent (40 cents) to close at Rs 29 as 1,300 shares changed hands during 9 trades.

However, the share price of Asian Hotels and Properties slipped 6.68 per cent (Rs 3.60) to close at Rs 50.30 as 16,019 shares changed hands during 36 trades, Bukit Darah slipped 4.74 per cent (Rs 10.90) to close at Rs 219 as 200 shares changed hands during a single trade, while the share price of Chevron Lubricants Lanka slipped 3.51 per cent (Rs 4) to close at Rs 110.10 as 678,587 shares changed hands during 210 trades.
