Public forum to mark Arthur C. Clarke’s birth centenary Sri Lanka 2048: Imagine the Next 30 Years

The Arthur C Clarke Trust is organising a public forum titled 'Sri Lanka 2048: Imagine the Next 30 Years' to mark the birth centenary of Arthur C. Clarke which falls this month.

The event will be held on 15 December from 3 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute Auditorium, Horton Place, Colombo 7.The forum will see four Sri Lankan professionals imagining future scenarios for four key sectors: The future of data by Team Leader of Big Data Research at LIRNEasia think tank Sriganesh Lokanathan; the future of media by editor, publisher and media entrepreneur Shamindra Kulamannage; the future of cities by environmental architect, environmental conservationist and author Sunela Jayewardene; and the future of energy by sustainability engineer Nanda Abeysekera. The event will be moderated by feature writer and communications consultant, Smriti Daniel."On the occasion of Arthur C. Clarke's birth centenary, the Arthur C. Clarke Trust invites Sri Lankans of all ages, and from all walks of life, to imagine what Sri Lanka might be in 2048 – when the country marks the centenary of independence," curator of the event, science writer Nalaka Gunawardene said.The official Arthur C. Clarke website - www.arthurcclarke.org – is to be launched this month. The event is free and open to the public, with seating on a first come, first served basis.
