Discussion held on improving education

With the view to uplift the standard of Education and to identify the contemporary issues and take remedial measures, a Provincial Educational Committee for Eastern Province was successfully formed with participation of distinguished personalities from the Educational sectors representing all three districts in the Eastern Province at the ADS Hall, Addalaichenai recently.
The meeting organized by Addalaichenai True Vision Rural Rehabilitation Organization, in association with the Coalition for Educational Development, was chaired by M.A.C.M. Uwaize.

Uwaize detailed the purpose of the meeting and what was expected at this inaugural meeting attended by high ranking retired educational and Educational experts. They discussed and several issues in relation to the educational sector in the province. They also expressed interest in participating in this committee and networking among them to identify issues and proceed with advocacy activities to find solutions for community empowerment

The Committee decided to divide into four groups viz: Primary and Secondary Education Group (School Education), Higher Education Group, Early Childhood Development Group (Pre- School Education) and Special Education Group (Disable's Education and Development). Retired Zonal Director of Education U.L.M. Hashim (Ampara District) was elected as President while Retired Zonal Director of Education K. Sathiyanathan (Batticaloa District) will function as the Secretary.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of Education S. Logarajah (Trincomalee District) and Deputy Director of Education SA Naseera (Batticaloa District) will function as Treasurer and Assistant Secretary respectively.
