Army SC in hard fought win

Army Sports Club were made to labour for a hard fought win over Police Sports Club 32-18 in a thrilling inter-club league rugby match played at Air Force Sports Club grounds in Ratmalana, yesterday.

Army Sports Club scored four tries, three conversions and two penalties. Police SC were able to score three tries and a penalty.
Army started the scoring with a try by S. Kumara in the11th minute had to work hard for that try. But conversion was missed by Gayan Salinda. Later Salinda put over a penalty and lead 8-0.

Police fought back hard and make sure they scored a try in the first half. It was in the 31st minute when they scored through their forward W. Fawmy. Sandesh Jayawickrama failed to convert.

Police equalized before going in to half time when Sandesh put over a penalty to obtain three points.

Half time was taken with the scores level on 8-8.

In the second half, both team played good entertaining rugby and Police scored through Fawmy again but the conversion was missed. Army then scored a try by S. Nanayakkara and Salinda put over the conversion.
