CH & FC played extremely well to register their second successive win when they downed Air Force SC by 28 points (3 tries, 2 conversions, 3 penalties) to 12 (4 penalties) in their Dialog Rugby League game played at Race Course yesterday.

They played constructively and with cohesion to keep a fighting Air Force team at bay. CH forwards kept the pressures on the Airmen with their power play and tackled well when it mattered. This was the reason why the Airmen could not cross the goal line and could only obtain their points through penalties.

Air Force SC's place kicker Charith Seneviratne was their chief scorer with his reliable place kicking but that was not enough to bring them victory against the CH side that was hungry to score tries.

Airmen took a 6-0 lead by the 20th minute through Senanayake's kicks at goal. But that did not last long when CH reduced the lead through a Samuel Maduwantha penalty.

However, CH got ahead when they scored a try through Avishka Lee who dummied his way from 20 metres out. Maduwantha goaled it and CH took the lead up to 10-6.

Air Force reduced the deficit to just one point through another Seneviratne penalty and the scores were 10-9 at half time with CH leading.

Samuel Maduwantha put over two more penalties to increase on the lead for CH, 16-9.

Seneviratne then got his turn to put over a penalty for Air Force but CH led 16-12.

With Air Force threatening to catch up on the score through penalties, CH forwards played harder with the rains coming down. One such forwards' rush saw Pradeep Kurukulasuriya have a hand on the ball over the line for CH.

CH got another opportunity when a spilled pass by the Air Force back division saw centre Lee Keegal collect it and dash past to score mid left.

Samuel Maduwantha made the conversion and CH increased their lead that never looked like Airmen were going to catch up on.
