A committee was appointed yesterday (12) by the Ministry of Health to look into the practical issues, pertaining to the fingerprint system installed at the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital and as a result the system was temporarily removed, bringing to halt a week-long strike carried out by the nurses opposed to its installment.

Director of the General Hospital, Dr. Susitha Senaratne told Ceylon Today that the strike was called off following discussions and all parties agreed to the removal of the system until a solution is found by the Committee. He also said that hospital functions are back to normal as nurses reported to duty after the strike was called off.
