Billboards and Lies lead the Globes

It was time for talk show host Seth Myers to take the helm as host at the Golden Globes which was held at The Beverly Hills, Beverly Hilton, California on 8 January 2018.

The audience that night, embraced a jet-black dress code, faithful to the protest on the Harvey Weinstein scandal which is, by now, quite infamous among the celebrity community and the rest of the world alike.

Awarding Hollywood's highly original movies and TV series, the winners of the globe, once again, predicts the upcoming Oscars for the 75th time. In the previous year, Chazelle's musical La La Land swept the movie categories with 7 Globes in its' platter.
This time, Guillermo del Toro's The Shape of Water was reigning with that many nominations. However, it was dominated by the dark comedy drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, bagging four Globes including for Best Picture – Drama.
Gary Oldman, was another DiCaprio with exceptional performances in his resume spanning his entire career. Sirius Black in Harry Potter and Commissioner Gordon in The Dark Knight Trilogy are some of the recognizable ones. Oldman's recent portrayal of Winston Churchill in the Darkest Hour, earned him his long awaited Golden Globe.
Big Little Lies garnered the most wins among the TV programme categories. The Handmaid's Tale followed with 2 wins including Best Television series – Drama.

Perhaps the most highlighting moment of the night was the speech given by Oprah Winfrey after accepting the Cecile B. DeMille Award. Her words sunk deep into the hearts of everyone as she spoke on behalf of the courageous effort of speaking out against physical, emotional and sexual abuse.
