Further evidence on Gammanpila- Shaddock case on 26th

Colombo High Court (CHC) Judge R. Gurusinghe on 12 January ordered that the obtaining of further evidence relating to the case filed by the Attorney General against Parliamentarian Udaya Gammanpila for having allegedly misused a sum of Rs 20 million belonging to Australian national Brian Shaddock should be undertaken on 26 January.

The Attorney General had filed the case against the MP alleging that from 26 September 1996 to 27 September 1997 that shares belonging to the Pan Asia Bank under the name of the Digital Nominis Private Limited valued at Rs 20 million had been misappropriated by the MP concerned and hence he had committed punishable offences as per Sections 113(A), 102 and 389 of the Penal Code.

The MP had been indicted on five charges.

Already another case is currently being heard before CHC Judge A.A.R. Heiyyanthuduwa where MP Gammanpila and an accused named Sidney Jayasinghe have been charged with misappropriating a sum of Rs 21 million belonging to the Australian national.
